ABOUT THE NIGHT OCEAN

First published in 1936, "The Night Ocean" centers on a narrator investigating the unsettling changes in a close friend following his association with a prominent writer. Set along the coast, the story examines obsession, influence, and the loss of personal autonomy.

Subtle and psychologically driven, The Night Ocean stands as a key work of classic weird fiction.

This work is presented as it was originally created and may contain outdated and offensive cultural depictions.

ABOUT R. H. BARLOW

R.H. Barlow (1918–1951) was an American writer, editor, and bibliophile closely associated with H.P. Lovecraft during the final years of the latter’s life. While still in his teens, Barlow contributed both fiction and scholarship to the emerging field of weird literature. Though his literary output was limited, his influence endures through his own work and his role in preserving and promoting the legacy of weird fiction in the twentieth century.
